How can my child get involved in Umpiring?

We generally require our umpires to be 12+ years of age, with all umpires required to pass the Rules of Theory online exam (70% pass rate) as well as attend a Beginners Umpire Session (details for 2026 TBA). For more information please refer to “Umpires” tab.

Can we submit a Team?

We understand that friendships are pivotal to the enjoyment of netball. and team requests will be accommodated where possible. We recommend teams of ideally 9 players to allow for illness and injury.

Ideally, submitted teams are to provide their own Coach. 

We require Team Submissions (or players wishing to play together) to be completed on the following form (players names and Team Contact required) and must be completed by Sunday 15 February 2026.

Can Players play up or down an age group for the entire season?

Within the NetSetGo competition players can play up one age group only.  However players are not allowed to play down an age group.  

For competitive age groups (11 years and up) players are required to play within their age group (i.e. year you were born/age you are turning this year).  Ability to play up an age group in Under 11 competition and up required the approval of WDNA.  We cannot guarantee approval will be granted.  

We recommend playing in the correct age.  It’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends

16-18 year old players: Cadets vs Opens?

Once players reach Under 16s, they have the choice of playing in either the Cadets competition or the Opens competition at Western Districts.

The Cadets competition at Western Districts is for 16-18 year olds who are seeking more of a social competition. For those looking to play more competitively and continue to advance their skills, the Opens Competition is more suitable..
